The “Odvažna” (Brave) project builds on the long-standing initiative of the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation aimed at the economic empowerment of women across Serbia. Originally launched in 2019 under the name “Ja sam odvažna” (I Am Brave), the project was initially implemented with the support of IKEA Serbia and Mastercard. In its new phase, beginning in 2025, it continues with the support of Intesa Foundation the philanthropic organisation, the arm of Banca Intesa, further strengthening the capacity and visibility of women-led businesses in Serbia, with a particular focus on women entrepreneurs from marginalized and underdeveloped communities.
The project targets women who want to start or grow their businesses, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. Through public calls, selected entrepreneurs receive non-refundable financial support, as well as mentorship, expert guidance, access to training, and opportunities to network with other women entrepreneurs and business professionals.
Supported initiatives are selected based on their potential to employ women, innovation, social impact, and sustainability. To date, the program has supported dozens of women entrepreneurs from different parts of Serbia who, thanks to this support, have:
- modernized their production processes,
- developed new products,
- created new jobs for women,
- improved access to domestic and international markets.
The supported businesses include SMEs that produce healthy food, natural cosmetics, handicrafts, textiles, children’s furniture, and providers of innovative community services.
“Odvažna” is committed to long-term change - empowering women to become economically independent, build sustainable businesses, and actively contribute to the development of their communities. The project promotes gender equality, sustainable development, and cross-sector collaboration, sending a strong message that women’s entrepreneurship has the power to transform communities for the better.
