Dear Ana & Vlade Divac Foundation,

I finished high school with an average grade of 5.00 (equivalent to A star UK or A plus, 4.0 grade average USA) and was named the Best Student of my Generation. During these four years, there have been both good and some tough times. I got sick and I fought a hard battle and still do, but I won’t let the disease break me.

Your scholarship helped me a lot. I bought professional literature, paid for my University preparations and the entrance exams and now I am happy to inform you that I have been officially accepted to study Medicine under the Faculty of Medicine!

Once again I’d like to say a BIG THANK YOU to the Ana & Vlade Divac Foundation and all the other benefactors.

I will always be grateful for your support!

Marija Stankovic, Zitoradja

This year The Ana & Vlade Divac Foundation in cooperation with a group of donors from the diaspora continues the DIVAC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM for the best students from all over Serbia for forur consecutive years. The scholarships are intended for high school students who achieve excellent results, and come from the most vulnerable backgrounds (single-parent families, parents or children who are chronically ill, refugees and displaced families, families from rural areas, low income families).

Last year we received more than 500 applications from all over Serbia, which in itself says enough about the number of children who are in desperate need of our help. We believe that education can be life-changing and it brings hope of a better future for these youths.

All of these students are also volunteering within their own communities - for The Red Cross, they help low income citizens and their schoolmates to study.

426 students have received scholarship over four years in the amount of RSD 10,000 per month.

Ana Divac, Co-founder of the Ana and Vlade Divac Foundation: These children are our future, some of them may affect our lives and the lives of our children in the future, some will help others, because they already know how a little help goes a long way. One thing is for certain they are all already good people and will change the world with their kindness. We are glad that we can be a part of their lives and that we are in a position to influence their young lives for the better.

Please support our cause and donate for the next 100 future scholars HERE!

63 scholarships were awarded to high school students with excellent success with the aim of rewarding excellent students whose families have economic difficulties, and 74 to students whose at least one parent/guardian had refugee status in the Republic of Serbia and had fled from the Republic of Croatia, or the Republic of Serbian Krajina.

MESSAGES OF GRATITUDE:

"I would like to thank you for having supported me during this school year and for making my everyday life so much easier. I graduated from high school as the best student in my generation and enrolled in the Faculty of Economics! Once again, thank you very much for your help!"

Jovan Stević from Čačak, one of 100 high school students whom we provided scholarship in 2018/2019

Dear Sir or Madam,

...As far as gratitude is concerned... I cannot find proper words to express the amount of gratitude I feel. I would like to thank you for the opportunity to be your scholarship holder, for the experiences I have gained on this trip by volunteering and helping others, even though they do not have anything or cannot give us back. There is nothing more beautiful than feeling generous and warm when we do some good deed. I wonder what it feels like for you - knowing that my deeds are far less significant than yours and my possibilities are scarcer. Congratulations for the idea and making it happen. I would like to say thank you to the Divac family for their help. People like you are changing the world. Rest assured the world is richer now for a bunch of smiles!

Keep doing this, so some knowledge, experience, selfless help, and smiles just pile up.

Kindest regards!
Immensely grateful,
Teodora

The basic criteria for awarding scholarships are that students have achieved excellent success, as well as that they have won prizes in science or sports competitions, with particular regard to the social status of the family and the health status of its members.

All of our scholarship holders are volunteers who have been helping their community - the Red Cross, less privileged fellow citizens, or schoolmates who are having problems with a particular subject at school. You can also read about all this in the stories of our scholarship holders who have been sending us letters of appreciation and certificates of volunteering.

Dear Sir or Madam,

First of all, I would like to thank you for all that you have done for me and my family during the last two years, because you have made this school year so much easier and more beautiful. I am glad that there are still people who appreciate and recognize someone's hard work and dedication, and I sincerely hope that one day I will be able to help others in a similar way.

I will always remember the month of June this school year. I graduated from high school, passed my final exam with great success, and enrolled in the faculty I had always wanted.

Kindest regards from my family and me!

Immensely grateful,

Suzana Večerina, Požarevac
